Over 500,000 candidates who sat the 2018 KCSE exams will miss university slots. Education CS Amina Mohammed revealed that only 90,744 students scored between grades A and C+, guaranteeing them a spot in public and private universities. The CS however added that those who failed to attain the university cut off marks will find places in TVET institution

The CS has in the meantime urged the placement offices in the institutions to allow access to their websites. The exercise will be concluded on February 23, 2019 to allow students a one month window to join universities of their choice.

Also in other news, The ministry of Education is at work making sure that all students who sat for KCPE last year are able to join Secondary School. As per now, 85% of the students have joined various secondary schools country wide.

Tanariver County was expected to enroll 3,721 but it has enrolled   2,205 students which results to only 59% .

Kakamega County which was given a large number of students has only managed to enroll 54,858 meaning it as enrolled 85% of the students. Murang’a County is only left with 3% who haven’t joined the secondary school followed by Siaya County which is only left with 5%.
