Forty three students in Garissa sub county who sat for last year’s KCPE have not reported to their respective high schools.
According to the sub county education officer Ali Baithul some those who have not reported cited lack of school fees others opted for Quran school while some have joint technical institutions.
In a door to door operation conducted by Waberi West Chief Yussuf Sheikh Ali, managed to net two while one escaped minutes before their arrival.
One of those nabbed included Abdighani Harun who scored 178 marks and was admitted at Shill Secondary School on Fafi Sub County was unable to report due to poverty which the parents could not raise.
They said the family rely on less than 10 goats and if they were to be sold then it would be the end of the family.
Dekow Hareth who did his KCPE at New Eastleigh Primary School and scored 294 marks did not even bother to follow up on which school he was admitted after he lost his father the only breadwinner in the family.
He was however taken by the area chief to the sub county education officer upon which he was issued with admission letter to Tetu Day Secondary School.
The education officer said although all the day school were almost filled up they will admit the students as infrastructure development in the schools is being looked into.
