Kitui headteacher accused of raping female student.

A 58-year-old secondary school principal in Kitui County has been charged in court with raping a Form Four female student.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Marianne Murage, the accused who is the principal of Mosa Mixed Secondary School in Kisasi District pleaded not guilty to the offence.

He was released on a Sh200,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.

According to police, Kimanzi stormed the girls’ dormitory on the night of JANUARY 21, 2019 to take a roll call on the girls- but then he inexplicably summoned the girl outside as he left the rest of the girls inside the dormitory.

In her statement to the police, the girl said Kimanzi shepherded her towards the school fence at around 2am where he raped her before warning her to keep her mouth shut.

The girl is said to have returned to the dormitory weeping hysterically and shared her ordeal with her colleagues.

The incident angered the students who boycotted classes the following morning to register their disgust.

The girl was later rushed to Kitui County Referral Hospital for treatment before reporting the matter at Mbitini police post.

The court heard that the principal had sent the school matron on off duty, leaving the female students without a care taker.

The prosecution has 10 witnesses who are ready to testify in the case.

Hearing of the case was set for MARCH 3, 2019.

  2. Its unfortunate that such can happen in modern society where sex is readily available for free or on commercial terms. 😒
However, there has been several cases where young “women” are ill advised & take advantage of society seriousness on rape cases lie to humiliate, take revenge or simply to create unnecessary disruption and debates.
Taking into account that both rape and ‘dying for’ lies are common, there need be thorough investigations into such cases before demonising the culprit.
